It has taken us possibly longer than most to try out Zoom for a meeting opportunity. Mainly because, if you hadn’t noticed, we are artists not technical wizards. However, with the sparse amount of knowledge a few of us had and a lot of finger crossing we achieved a meeting last week.
As it was the first time many of us had seen each other since March 2019 as you can imagine a few minutes were spent saying hello to each other, asking about everyone’s health and generally checking we hadn’t all gone totally gaga in the last few difficult months! As it turns out we all seemed to be on our usual levels of gaga!
We soon got down to business and discussed such things as keeping our website up to date (one of the reasons this is being written), ensuring we were posting regularly on our social media and checking to see if anyone wanted any changes. We checked to see if all our members were still keen to continue the group. We artists get a lot from meeting with each other, discussing our methods, comparing styles, asking and giving advice and without that stimulous we were wondering if all of us would want to continue. I am pleased to report that all the group are firmly on board and raring to go once we can exhibit again.
Sadly we can’t plan anything firm just now, although we do have an exhibition booked for the West Barn in Bradford on Avon for 3rd-5th September which we are hoping will still be able to go ahead. However, Neale, who came up with the idea of exhibiting in a gallery in RADCO, Radstock had some brilliant thoughts. How about exhibiting in car parks, like an Art Car Boot Sale, or utilising local shop windows in Radstock both of which we all agreed were great ideas and he is looking into this for us all. We are also hoping that in 2022 we will be able to go ahead with our usual OBA Art Trail so there is that to look forward to.
It was lovely to actually SEE everyone, even if only virtually and we all agreed we will be doing it again in February, so watch this space. In the meantime, to whet your appetites we asked all members to send in photos of just what they have been up to during the last months and the first set of photos received have come from the inimitable Annie Davenport and will soon be shared amongst you via this website and on our Facebook page.
So never fear the OBA are still very much HERE!
