My practice is about what ‘we’ leave behind.

Being both an artist and a Natural Historian

has provoked my visual thought process.  

The Paintings deal with marks, structures, and surfaces as evidence of the collision between us and the planet.  I am fascinated by the evidence left by human existence within the environment. How we make unique structures that reveal ourselves and that define us. 

The starting points can include ancient marks and carvings, crop marks, stains on a floor or entropic marks left with the passing of time.  I draw on personal memories and feelings of urban and industrial landscapes. 

I paint that which cannot be photographed.  The construction of my work deals with Harmony, Connectivity and Balance and explores our existence in this light.  It is important to me that my paintings communicate in all lights and that they continually reveal new content.
